“Specializing in difficult dogs.”

Mindful Mutts Dog Training is a family based business. Our head trainer, Kirsten Badertscher, has been training dogs for over 10 years. She began in high school at a boarding kennel, and assisted with Schutzhund training the owner’s Rottweiler. She went to college and graduated from UC Davis in 2003 with a degree in psychology and animal science. Kirsten also currently works at a local animal shelter, performing daily care for the animals as well as behavior evaluations and adoption counseling. She specializes in finding the perfect match for any adopter’s home. Andy Badertscher has lived with dogs his entire life and enjoys helping Kirsten with their boarding dogs as well as with training their own dogs. He graduated from Sacramento State University in 2005, and is in charge of the financial aspect of the business. The family dogs currently include Coriander, a 12 year old German Shepherd/Malamute mix; Moose a 3 year old German shepherd; and Belle Pepper a 3 year old Rottweiler. All of the dogs were recued from shelter or rescue groups.

Kirsten and Andy also foster dogs with behavior problems on a regular basis, helping to make them adoptable and saving their lives. Both are passionate about dogs and about helping dog owners build better and longer lasting relationships with their pets.
